Tressler Leads Huskies to Split with Lock Haven

LOCK HAVEN-- Chris Tressler (Lewistown/Lewistown) pitched a five-hit shutout and helped himself by going 3-4 with two RBI to power Bloomsburg University to a 13-0 win and a split of its doubleheader with Lock Haven on Friday. In the opener, the Huskies lost by a score of 4-3.
Tressler allowed just five singles, struck out six and did not walk a batter in throwing his first career shutout. At the plate, Tressler got Bloomsburg off to a 1-0 start in the first inning when he singled home Preston Hitchcock (Laceyville/Wyalusing) who had reached on an error, while in the fourth he singled home the Huskies second run of the game.
Bloomsburg made it 6-0 with four runs in the fifth with Hitchcock and Kevin Ward (Upper Darby/Monsignor Bonner) both driving in a pair of runs. In the sixth, the Huskies put four more runs on the board for a 10-0 and then got a three-run homer from Kirk Duffee (Coudersport/Coudersport) in the seventh to win 13-0.
In game one, Tressler went 3-4 with an RBI as the Huskies lost 4-3. Trailing 2-0 in the fourth, Tressler scored the Huskies first run, then in the fifth tied the game with an RBI double. Lock Haven went back in front with single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to take a 4-2 lead. In the top of the seventh, Tony Donofry (Newtown/Council Rock South) singled home one run to make it a 4-3 game, but Lock Haven was able to leave the tying and go-ahead runs on base and get the victory.
For the twinbill, Tressler was 6-8 with three runs scored and three RBI.
The Huskies, now 4-14, will host Lock Haven for a doubleheader on Saturday at noon, weather permitting.
